THE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER is one of the major works of English Literature. Since
its introduction in the sixteenth century it has had an enormous influence on
everything written in English. It has gone through a number of revisions, both in
England and in the other countries of the Anglican Communion, but the original text is
still comprehensible and relevant.
The Online Daily Office exists to give busy people a way to particpate in Morning and Evening
Prayer including the readings and psalms for each day (along with a bit of music!). You will also
find Noonday Prayer, Compline, and Devotions for Individuals and Families here. These rites
are based on The Book of Common Prayer.

The Online Daily Office is a ministry of The Mission of St. Clare*. The Mission's goal is to
introduce prayer and meditation to people who have never experienced them, and to support
people who enjoy the benefits of prayer and meditation but who find difficulty in putting aside
time for this practice.
Forward Movement Publications is an official agency of the national Episcopal Church. Since
1935 they have produced pamphlets, booklets, and books to encourage and nourish people as
they grow in their lives of prayer and faith. They are best known for the popular quarterly
devotional Forward Day by Day, providing daily meditations based on readings from the Bible
appointed by the lectionaries.
