The Lillis Memorial Organ was dedicated in 1969 and is of the French classical design. It contains 46 ranks of pipes controlled by 29 stops. The instrument was designed by Lawrence I. Phelps, then tonal director of Casavant Frères, to specifications submitted by Allen S. Rosenberg, then the Organist and Choirmaster of Christ Church. The stop list was designed to provide authentic registrations for organ literature and varied accompaniment for choral music. The divisions of the organ are Grand Orgue, Positif, and Pédale. They are located within the organ case according to the "werk-principe" which calls for the primary foundation stop of each division to be located in the façade of the organ case. This case helps focus the sound of the division, and permits lower wind pressures.
