The Chorister Program at Christ Church is the program in which the training of children's choirs takes place. It is a musical formation program that begins in Kindergarten and, hopefully, never ends! The Program seeks to open doors through experience, education, understanding and commitment.

The Cherub Choir (Kindergarten and First Grades) meets Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. Their rehearsals focus on the experience of finding their voices. They also learn very basic posture for singing, beginning rhythmic and listening skills, as well as the beginnings of choral deportment. The Cherub Choir sings at the 10:00 Sunday liturgy approximately seven times this year. For their specific rehearsal and appearance schedule, please click HERE. Mrs. Jessica Jaffe directs the Cherub Choir.

The newly-formed Primary Choir (Second and Third Grades) also meets Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. Their rehearsals reinforce and review everything learned in Cherub Choir, with the addition of learning to hold actual printed music, and be able to sing from it. Basic music reading skills are, therefore, learned and applied to the practice of choral singing. They move from the "experiential" vocal stage to the "understanding" of what it is to sing. These skills are imparted, of course, in an age-appropriate manner. Choristers keep their own folders of music and are further prepared to participate fully in the Junior Choir once they are in the Fourth Grade. The Primary Choir sings with the Cherub Choir for the 10:00 Sunday liturgy, approximately 7 times during the year. For their specific rehearsal and appearance schedule, please click HERE. The Organist & Choirmaster directs the Primary Choir.

The Junior Choir (Fourth through Eighth Grades) meets Wednesdays from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. Their rehearsals are longer because their training and development are more thorough. They follow the Royal School of Church Music's choir curriculum, "Voice for Life." VFL follows a coloring system of Light Blue, Dark Blue, Yellow and Red, which corresponds to the level at which each chorister is working, but also corresponds to the color of ribbon that the chorister wears on his/her vestment. It is a mark of achievement and progress, and is worn each time the Choir sings in public. The Junior Choir sings approximately 9 times at the 10:00 Sunday liturgy this year. For their specific rehearsal and appearance schedule, please click HERE. Mrs. Margaret Young and the Organist co-direct the Junior Choir.

The parish is allied with the Royal School of Church Music, and follows their motto for chorister involvement of "I will sing with the spirit and with the understanding also."
